Brothers Roy and John Tem Tem founded Tems Fresh Meat Wholesalers in 1989. They originally started in the retail sector in 1983 when they opened their first butchery, Ideal Meat. Around 1988 they noticed there was a massive opportunity to integrate into the wholesale meat market. The following year they opened Tems Fresh Meat Wholesalers in Doornfontein, Johannesburg.
Through their hard work, commitment and passion for the meat industry they quickly out grew their premises in Doornfontein and developed a new property in City Deep over 12000sqm. They made the move from Doornfontein to City Deep in 1994 where they are currently located and have recently developed a state-of-the-art cold-store, capable of storing over 1000 tons of frozen food products and 300 tons of fresh food products.
Tems Fresh Meat Wholesalers have also recently acquired their Food Safety Assessment Certificate under the requirements for prerequisite programmes on food safety, Codex Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles, Food Safety Management System requirements as guided by the Global Safety Initiative (GFSI).
With over 30 years in the industry Roy and John have become leaders in the wholesale meat market. Over the years they expanded into the wholesale frozen food market which includes large ranges of Beef, Fish, Chicken, Lamb and Turkey products.
Tems Fresh Meat Wholesalers have also been successfully importing and exporting products for over 10 years. We have developed strong relationships with traders and supermarkets across Africa and other overseas countries.
We are constantly looking to expand our operation by building new relationships with suppliers and traders in order to get the best quality products, deals and offerings.
